Advanced Spatial Technologies LLC (AST)'s principal mission is to provide you with exact location (including routing) of your above and below ground assets and assist you with the identification, location, condition, as well as with up to the minute pictures of your asset and job sight. Our Spatial Asset Management System (AST SAMS™) is a spatially specific asset management database providing an easily customizable data management platform.
The AST SAMS™ Software uses our own collection of hardware, software and Digital to Digital (D2D) and Machine to Machine (M2M) control systems. Our hardware system includes highly accurate GPS units from Trimble Navigation, versatile digital cameras from Ricoh Corporation, marker locators and RFID tags and readers from various manufacturers, and the rugged Trimble Geo Explorer, Pathfinder Pro and Juno ST GPS PDA's or the CF-19 and CF-30 Panasonic Toughbook laptops as the primary control computers. This M2M control set with our D2D Controller software presents a unique method of marking and tracking field assets, their location, their condition and their installation and repair history. The Modules of AST SAMS™
Because of its simple operation and design AST SAMS™ is designed to be used and not refused. Enterprise level software applications are usually designed by managers, consultants, and sales people. Unfortunately these are rarely the people that do the actual data gathering and input. All too frequently these systems are too complicated in design to be easily understood by the workers that actually input the data, print the reports, update the information in the system, and do the field or production work. We developed the AST SAMS™ system for the people that are actually tasked with the data input and workflow at the request of mid-level supervisory clients who had been forced by upper management to use an enterprise system so complicated their employees had no idea what, where, when or why anyone would need this confusing system, so they simply claimed ignorance and refused to use the product. Systems that stream smoothly and logically through the actual workflow are more likely to be used than disorganized systems that jump back and forth with little regard to the orderly input of data. If the people closest to the actual work and data entry feel comfortable with their data tools they actually input data that can then be used by management to make informed decisions from statistically complete data sets.
