The more detailed AST SAMS PROFESSIONAL™ data gathering module contains all the information gathered plus it allows the addition and modification of new definitions, categorizations, users, new asset types, manufacturers, models and attributes for each asset category. AST SAMS PROFESSIONAL™ also provides large data sets, RFID tagging capability, search and reporting services and customization for recording, sorting and reporting the information from repair and testing procedures. Using this module a field crew can easily mark, find, record and perform scheduled, un-scheduled, and emergency operations on any asset in the organization’s field inventory. The field crew can add a new latitude and longitude set for each asset as they perform the assigned task to take advantage of advances in GPS and other locator technologies, and take real time pictures for review and comparison to previous conditions of the asset. The asset event capabilities allow you to track an asset through its purchase, installation, inspection, repair and retirement. You can attach as many digital pictures to each asset as you need to help show the condition of an asset at any time in its life, and you can attach and store Radio Frequency ID (RFID) tag information to each asset or define several assets as members of a defined site. RFID tagging allows virtually instant access to the complete set of information about an asset or group of assets. This module uses either the Trimble Geo Explorer series or the Trimble Pathfinder Pro series GPS receivers. These receiver can provide up to sub-foot location precision. The central control device for the AST SAMS PROFESSIONAL™ data gathering module is the Panasonic Toughbook CF-19 or CF-30 ruggedized laptop computer, and this module adds several data management features not available in the smaller PDA based data gathering systems.
